Kimberly Herman formed By Word of Mouth, Ltd
(BWOM) as a private speech therapy practice in the
Twin City’s area in 2001. Kimberly has over ten years
of experience working with adults and children
exhibiting various forms of speech and language needs.
Her experiences developing and directing school
therapy, home-care and out-patient rehabilitation
programs allowed her to start her own practice.
Kimberly completed her master’s degree in speech-
language pathology at California State University-Los
Angeles. She is fully licensed and registered through
the Departments of Health and Education as well as
the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Areas of therapy expertise are auditory processing
skills and its relation to literacy as well as multi-
cultural assessments and interventions. Kimberly
utilizes a hands-on and functional approach to
communication promoting comfort and safety, allowing
individuals to communicate to the best of one’s ability.

Staff Directory
Heidi Wolak-Faber received her Master of Science
degree in Speech Language Pathology from
Minnesota State University Mankato and is fully
licensed through the Minnesota Department of
Health, Minnesota Department of Education,
American Speech Language and Hearing Association
and Minnesota Speech and Hearing Association. She
also works as a casual part-time SLP for North
Memorial Medical Center. Heidi’s background
includes vocal performance and vocal health
management. She currently enjoys working with all
ages and stages of life. Heidi incorporates art, music
and movement into her therapy whenever possible and
strives to give every client the best opportunity for
functional, meaningful communication, with a little fun
mixed in!

Abbie Pannkuk graduated in 2005 with her
undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences
and Disorders from the University Minnesota-Duluth.
She graduated with her M.S. in 2007 with her Master’
s degree in Communicative Disorders from the
University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Some of Abbie’s
professional interests are the field of Autism
Spectrum Disorders, the topic of her Master’s
thesis. She also enjoys leaning more about testing
materials, interventions, and strategies to assist with
culturally diverse students. She has been a Speech
Language Pathologist for By Word of Mouth ltd. for
the past three years. She currently works at three
different charter schools in the metro area. Abbie
enjoys attending and watching the Minnesota Wild,
Minnesota Twins, and the UMD hockey team. She
enjoys running, home improvement projects,
gardening, and walking her dog, Barkley. She is on a
conquest to visit all the baseball stadiums in the
United States.

Tonya Hansel has many years of experience working
in the schools, out-patient rehabilitation, and home
care. Tonya completed her master’s degree in
Communicative Disorders at the University of
Minnesota Twin Cities. She is licensed and registered
with the Minnesota Departments of Health and
Education as well as the American Speech-Language
Hearing Association. Areas of expertise are multi-
cultural assessments and intervention. When she is
not working, Tonya enjoys spending time with her
husband and three boys, running, and reading.
Emily Glassman

Emily Glassman is our Business Manager/Office
Manager/Human Resource Specialist. She is a “jack of
all trades”. We are lucky to have her as she is the glue
to all of our paperwork. When you call the main office it
is with Emily you will most often speak. Emily has
worked in our offices for 9 years, and has 17 years of
accounting experience. Emily is the mother of twin girls,
which keep her busy. She enjoys traveling,
scrapbooking and spending time with her family and
friends.


Crystal graduated in 2005 with her Bachelor’s degree
in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the
University of Minnesota Duluth. She worked for a
year in the Hopkins School District as a Speech
Language Pathologist Paraprofessional. In 2008 she
graduated with her Master’s degree in Communicative
Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-River
Falls, and has been with BWOM ever since! She
enjoys working with children of all ages and abilities,
but has a growing interest in kids with Autism Spectrum
Disorders and culturally diverse backgrounds. She
strives to use a functional and effective language
approach that incorporates every day communication
and a bit of play. When she isn’t working she enjoys
traveling, reading, watching the Twins, camping,
cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
I received my B.S. in Communication Disorders from
the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and my M.S. in
Communication Disorders from St. Cloud State
University. Before joining By Word of Mouth, I worked
as a speech-language pathologist on a spinal cord injury
team at the Sister Kenny Institute and at a private
outpatient practice here in the metro area. When I’m
not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and
children.
